Material thickness

The root barrier is available in two material thicknesses. The standard quality is suitable for applications where the barrier runs along a wall, concrete edging, beam, or similar structure, providing counter-pressure and thus reducing the risk of cracking.

The extra-thick quality (HD quality) is 50% thicker and is designed for applications without counterpressure at the top edge where the pressure on the material is greater. This professional quality is the best choice in the long run due to its higher strength and weather resistance.

Root barrier advice

For clump-forming (non-invasive) bamboos like Fargesia, a 35 cm root guide without a connector is sufficient. For invasive bamboos, a 64 cm root guide with a 60 cm root guide is recommended on heavy clay soil to prevent overgrowth. On loose/soft soil (sand/peat), we recommend a 75 cm root guide with a connector. For added safety, a 100 cm root guide with the appropriate clamp can be used for sensitive areas.
