Material thickness

The root barrier is available in two material thicknesses. The standard quality is suitable for applications where the barrier runs along a wall, concrete band, beam or something similar so that there is counter pressure and the chance of cracks is reduced.

The extra thick quality is 50% thicker and is intended for applications without counter pressure in the upper edge where the force on the material is greater. This professional quality is the best choice in the long term due to its higher strength and weather resistance.

Root barrier advice

For clump-forming (non-spreading) bamboos such as Fargesia, root guidance of 35 cm high without a connection set is sufficient. For spreading bamboos, 60 cm together with a 60 cm high connection set is recommended on heavy clay soil to prevent spreading. On loose / soft soil (sand / peat) we recommend 75 cm high with a connection set. For all safety, 100 cm high with the associated clamp can be chosen for sensitive objects.

Root barrier for non-spreading bamboo such as Fargesia

For narrow hedges of clump-forming, non-spreading bamboo species, we use foil with a working height of 35 cm. Here, the purpose of the barrier is to form an even, straight hedge. With Fargesia, the barrier does not have to protrude above the ground and does not have to be hermetically connected to a steel locking set.
